Ozinga Energy Opens First Public Access Natural Gas Fueling Station in Northern Indiana

October 23, 2013

GARY, In. Nov 12, 2013 ? Ozinga Energy proudly announces the grand opening of their latest compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station and the first publicly accessible CNG station in northern Indiana.

A division of Mokena, Illinois-based Ozinga Bros., Inc., Ozinga Energy already operates two additional CNG stations in Mokena and Chicago. The Gary station is located at Ozinga?s ready mix concrete facility at 400 Blaine Street, between I-80 and I-90.

The station includes multiple fill spaces for Ozinga?s large fleet of CNG concrete mixers as well as two publicly accessible CNG fuel pumps with credit and fleet card readers. It is open 24 hours a day and is both covered and well-lit at night.

The grand opening ceremony began with a ribbon cutting by Ozinga president Marty Ozinga IV and Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, followed up with remarks from a panel including Indiana Congressman Pete Visclosky, Shawn Seals of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, and Carl Lisek of South Shore Clean Cities.

?Ultimately, it?s something that makes our country and community stronger,? noted Marty Ozinga IV, of the opportunities presented by investing in CNG.

Congressman Pete Visclosky touched on the importance of empowering the local economy while looking to the future. ?This day is exactly why it is a wise thing to invest a small portion of our federal tax dollars in resolving the energy crisis we face in the United States,? he said. ?What I profoundly appreciate is that this is a for-profit investment that helps resolve our energy crisis.?

In an uplifting speech about the local economy and the benefits of businesses and community partnering together, Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson explained that the City of Gary is working to convert part of their general services fleet to run on CNG, adding, ?you can be environmentally sound and still protect your bottom line.?

Ozinga Energy plans to open their next CNG station at the Ozinga Ready Mix Concrete location in Des Plaines, Illinois, by early 2014. The Des Plaines station will be Ozinga Energy?s 4th CNG fueling station and will also be accessible to the public.
